TEACHER’S TRAINING: DRAWING THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD For educators and facilitators This training is for all teachers and facilitators who want to learn the steps to teaching drawing to students and help them progress in their art. Throughout these workshops, participants will draw and gain confidence in their own skillset and knowledge. Foundational Workshop (4 hours) Participants will learn about child development phases in drawing and how to teach drawing to different age groups. Participants will gain a better understanding of the changes and progress in the visual perception of the child, including perceiving and rendering proportions, depth, texture, light and shadows, perspective, etc. They will learn the drawing techniques they can use in class accordingly to the difficulty level for each age group. Participants will practice different basics in drawing while using different art materials. This workshop has a large theoretical component and also a practical component. Complimentary Workshops (2 to 6 hours per workshop): Colour drawing with oil pastels or wax block crayons (kindergarten to 2nd grade) Colour drawing of plants and animals with colour pencils (level 3rd to 6th grade) Linear perspective (level 7th grade and more) Black and white drawing with charcoal or graphite pencils (level 6th grade and up) Basics of Portrait Drawing in blach and white (level 6th grade and up) Advanced colour drawing (level 6th grade and up, including adults) It is recommended that the complementary workshops be taken after the Foundational workshop. It can be done on the same day or at different times. These complementary workshops are mostly hands-on learning. Participants will be drawing for most of the session, perfecting their skills and confidence while learning how to address the subject-matter in class.
